Check the entry, not just the location.

How much does it cost to resit a GCSE?

Current published whole-subject prices in ExamCompare's Summer 2027 data run from £190 to £500. The lower end usually covers a standard written entry; English speaking assessments, science practical arrangements, coursework, access arrangements and late entry can increase the final total.

A centre accepting private candidates does not automatically mean it can enter every board, specification or exam series. Start with the exact qualification and specification code used by your course.

For November GCSE resits, centres commonly focus on Mathematics and English Language. The broader subject list is for Summer 2027, when subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Science, Business, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, History, Geography, Religious Studies and Computer Science are available.

The cost calculator is narrower than the centre directory: it only includes centres with enough published detail to total every selected subject and board. That prevents a partial or “from” price being presented as a final basket.

Can I book a GCSE resit as a private candidate?

Yes. A private exam centre can make the entry if it accepts your specification and has availability.

When can I resit GCSE Maths or English Language?

They are commonly available in November as well as summer, subject to board and centre availability.

Does the published fee always include every paper?

No. Confirm that the fee covers the whole subject, every paper and any compulsory administration charges.

Can I compare several GCSE resits together?

Yes. The GCSE and IGCSE calculator can combine several subjects and boards in one basket, then show only complete published totals.
