A-level private entries

Compare exam centres for your A-level resit.

Compare Summer 2027 private-entry prices for six written-paper subjects, with the source and price basis shown beside every result.

A fair comparison

Whole-subject and per-paper fees are not the same.

ExamCompare ranks published whole-subject fees as comparable prices. A per-paper tariff is labelled separately because the final total depends on the number of papers in the exact specification.

The first A-level release deliberately focuses on written-paper subjects. Sciences, languages and subjects with non-exam assessment need extra checks for practical endorsements, speaking tests or coursework before prices can be compared safely.

Can I resit an A level as a private candidate?

Yes, if a centre accepts the board and specification and can meet every assessment requirement.

Do I need to resit every paper?

For a full resit you will normally need the required assessment components. Confirm the exact rules for your specification.

Why are practical and coursework subjects harder to compare?

The extra facilities and administration can add substantial cost and restrict which centres can accept the entry.
